We saw during Covid and our inability to travel an increase in purchases of secondary ” holiday” homes. I have noticed in recent months the influx of new listings in this category, particularly in the Northern Beaches. With interest rate rises and no travel restrictions, perhaps those buyers during covid are off-loading their assets? There is certainly some interesting offerings and this week I am featuring some of my top picks.
I’ve spent many years in Pittwater with my family- the memories are everlasting and the feeling of driving ” up the bends towards Avalon Village” magically transport you into a place of relaxation and zen.
My first property pick is in Wagstaffe NSW. Accessible by car from Sydney on the M1 taking approximately 1 hour 4 minutes. Alternatively you can drive to Palm Beach and get a 20 minute ferry ride for $9-$14.
11 Wagstaffe Avenue Wagstaffe NSW sits on 891sqm of premier waterfront with tidal beach and jetty.
Buyers Guide $8 million
5 bedrooms/ 3 bathrooms/ parking 2 cars/ pool
83 Paradise Avenue Avalon NSW
Buyers Guide $7.2 million
4 bedrooms/ 3 bathrooms/ parking 2 cars/ Direct access beach
This property is all about its unique location- Paradise Beach is set in an utterly charming cul de sac with a lovely public harbour front pool. This is a fabulous play area for younger children and isn’t so touristy during the summer weekends. What is interesting about this location is the price. To buy a home in the Northern Beaches with direct beach access would cost a lot more money- example in point Illuka Road “Snapperman Beach” with its lawn fronted homes selling for substantially more.
Avalon is situated just under an hour by car from Sydney so it makes a very convenient get-a-way. Avalon village itself is very special offering holiday vibes, cute stores, coffee shop and even a cinema!.
3 Mitchell Road Palm Beach NSW
Buyers Guide- expressions of interest $12.9 million
The picture perfect beach house! overlooking the headland offering 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 3 parking plus pool and glorious views to the beach and ocean.
When buying in Palm Beach location is everything. Do you want to walk to the beach easily? / Palm Beach is very “hilly” however these homes do enjoy better views over the headlands and Pittwater. This property is elevated but its such a haven you probably wouldn’t need to go to the beach as often as you think to enjoy the holiday feel plus the privacy factor here is excellent.
Finally another property in Avalon which caught my eye, waterfront again with jetty and so well priced!
This home has a unpretentious feel in the best of ways, a 1913 restored North East facing waterfront retreat sitting on 1624 sqm
Buyers guide $5.950 million !! if you can get another family in the mix to share the purchase on this one – go for it!
4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, parking 2 cars, waterfront jetty
A nice entry point into waterfront in my view.
Until next week have a lovely weekend and enjoy the warmer weather ( apparently 31 deg c Saturday !) summer has arrived!.
Annie xoxo
